What does it mean to be a guardian home?

We are looking for very special families to care for the dogs we select as future breeding prospects.

If you take a particular interest in the health and training of your four-legged family member and you are interested in contributing to our breeding programme, then you might be the partner we are looking for.

We believe that every dog deserves individual love and a special relationship with his or her human. We use guardian homes because we know that we can only provide this level of care to a limited number of dogs. Dogs placed in guardian homes come to us to have their litters, but otherwise enjoy life with their own family. Guardian families are an essential part of our breeding programme and become a part of our family.

Guardian homes benefit from:

  • Welcoming the “best” puppy from the litter, in looks and character, into your family

  • Extra advice and support from professionals

  • Free boarding for your dog when you are on holiday (up to 14 days per year)

  • Contributing to the development of a wonderful breed and playing a part in making more families happy and bringing more therapy dogs into the world

  • A €500 discount if you would wish to welcome a son or daughter of your dog in the future

  • Once your female dog has had 2 litters or your male dog retires from breeding, he/she will stay in your family forever with no purchase price

Guardian home checklist:

  • You live less than ½ hour drive from Overijse (longer distances will be considered as long as the Guardian home is willing to make the trip to come see us fairly regularly!)

  • You are willing to follow our advice concerning diet and nutrition (estimated budget of €60-80/month)

  • You want your dog to be well-behaved, and you are willing to attend training classes approved by us

  • You are prepared to allow your (female) dog to come stay with us for up to 10 weeks to have her puppies (for 2 litters)

  • You are willing to properly care for your dog’s coat and ensure he/she is groomed regularly

  • You are willing to take over official ownership of your dog if we decide not to use him/her for breeding

If you are interested in working closely with us to provide one of our very special breeding prospects with the highest level of care, please get in touch!
